The aim of the project is to build the infrastructure needed to organize a bank which would obtain, properly store, characterize and archive human bone marrow (BM) mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSC). Optimization of methods and technologies that could be adopted to serve this purpose would help establish an exemplary national IPSC bank in the near future. In this context, KI-MSCs from healthy people will be utilized to produce IPSCs. This method will be applied to the malignant infantile osteopetrosis disease (MIOP) patients who have never developed IPSCs before. IPSCs will be characterized, differentiated and their functionality will be tested in vivo. Furthermore, this process will require the development of an IT product for the management and optimization of these processes. Such IT tool would not only ensure a top quality process management but also pave the way for meeting the international accreditation criteria which should be sought by the authorities in the future. In this way, the IPSC Bank would be in a position to provide services for the benefit of other related centers and researchers on national level.
